Here We Are

Hello, dear reader, and welcome to my little corner of the internet for me to publish writings on whatever comes to mind.

My name is Stephen Hara, and the first announcement I'd like to make is - I don't have much of a plan! But there is a reason for that. Maybe it's good reason, I dunno. Help me out here.

My first blog was probably MySpace, but my use of it was uninteresting. I've met a few people in the software field who started illustrious careers by customizing their CSS there, but my inspiration was games instead. A tale for a different time!

My second was a cooking blog called "Frugal Undergrad College Kitchen", with a funny (to me) acronym and a more child-friendly title of "Fruncoki", the first 2 letters of every word. Around 10 posts in, I couldn't maintain the habit due to schoolwork and trying to have a social life, but that experiment was a lot of fun. Nice excuse to combine some interests of photography, numbers, and cooking, too.

The next attempt at blogging was Medium, and "attempt" is maybe too generous for the single post I made. So we can gloss over that one for now.

At some point I got my name as a domain, and every once in a while I make a post on that personal site, mostly geared toward software things. Which is well and fine, and I will probably keep posting there as well. But I think I'll keep those posts more technical in nature. It's more of a portfolio for the thing I do in my career, whereas this Ghost site has some freedom from that expectation.

I've made a couple of other blogs on Substack, but, well, I'm simply not as interested in the Substack thing. And I think those blogs were too...I dunno, bad?

So anyway, here I am. Making yet another blog, and actually my second on Ghost, since one iteration of my personal site was a self-hosted Ghost.

And I just kinda wanna write. About things I think about. Stuff like games, music, the tech industry, being a parent, learning, science, and how they fit together. Maybe some fiction or poetry.

Let's see how it goes this time!
