Some novel writing
Hello internet! I've decided to write a novel. Here's a snippet of the first few hundred words I put down.
Theris had never been so sure of an investment before this class.
"Remember, if you put my teachings into practice, you will get so many callbacks, you'll have to start saying no! Isn't that right, Quindel?" The instructor gestured to one of his former customers, a knight who was doing all manner of posing as demonstration.
"That's absolutely right, Master Wisman!" Quindel struck a new pose, picking up two massive jingly bags marked 'COIN' and raising them over his head. "Before I took Master Wisman's class here, my bounty board portraits were barely getting me by." He let one of the bags fall on his head and continue to the ground with a loud thump. "Now I have so many clients, I raised my fee and still don't have time to get to all of them!" He took the other bag in both hands and started raising and lowering it from behind his head. He did that the rest of the class.
Such a wasteful action, he must be living a life of opulence!
Master Wisman himself struck a valiant pose, his left arm tucked behind him and his right arm crossed over his chest in a fist as he held his chin up high. "And Quindel isn't the only one! Now that you've all completed my Portrait Posing Master Class..." He waved his hand out to the half dozen knights who'd filled the demonstration bags with their money, including Theris. "You are ready to attract your perfect clients from the bounty board!" He started clapping, his two assistants joining him (Quindel dropped the bag he was demonstrating with), soon accompanied by the students.
After the class closed out, Theris shared some pleasantries with acquaintances and grabbed a gift bag. The gift bags were always the best part of the classes, especially when they had information about the instructor's next class. He could have stayed around a bit longer and possibly overheard Master Wisman and his assistants gleefully counting their money with plenty of thinly-veiled disparagement. But he was full of motivation, and he had to use the rest of his money for his next portrait anyway.
For Theris, there was always a reason to take action.
Theris was a knight of a great many qualities. He was strong, and skilled with blades and the flail. He was competent in jousts. He was not the best at stratagems, but he knew when to use the better part of valor and show the enemy your horse's bum.
Theris was a good knight. But Theris was not a very wise knight.
Thanks for reading! I may or may not post more snippets in the future. Maybe this blog will turn into a writing progress blog. That'd be cool and very fantasy writer-core.
